For those of us in the northern hemisphere, the Earth now begins to awaken as it becomes warmed by the Sun. Maybe that’s part of the reason the skies are about to get busy.
It begins with a New Moon, movers to a time change, then comes the Vernal Equinox, and mixed in are a couple of planets changing signs. All are good for new beginnings.
That seems right as this time of the year used to be viewed as the “new year” when we were a more agricultural society. This is when crops are planted, new growth begins, and a highly anticipated harvest is awaited. Back then, the success of the crops meant the difference between the continuation of Life for we humans or, should the crops fail, possible starvation and death.
Even with the convenience of grocery stores, the crops still need to succeed in order for us to be able to feed ourselves and our loved ones. But that holds true for other forms of “sustenance” whether you’re talking love, health, or finances. That’s what makes this time of the year so important. What seeds will you plant for your own growth and continuing life? Watch the planets, they may hole a clue.
So let’s begin with that New Moon. It happens on Saturday, March 13th, at 5:21 a.m. EST in the sign of Pisces. The Sun, of course, will also be in Pisces, since this is a New Moon. Pisces is considered a spiritual sign, but it’s also a sign that calls our attention to our illusions, thanks to its ruling planet Neptune.
Keywords for the energies here are: sympathetic, imaginative, good-natured, easy-going, charitable, and spiritual. There can be a tendency to be over-anxious and restless; also, vacillation, lack of promptness and decision, and irresolution.
So where should one’s focus be? I would say on looking at things from a higher perspective and on considering travel or change of some kind. There may even be those who experience vague memories, possibly from a past life or lives, that will provide insights into the spiritual meaning of things going on in one’s current life.
If you are looking at this as the chance for a new beginning, then by all means consider the spiritual instead of or at least as well as the mundane when making that choice or decision.
It’s that time again! “Spring” forward…or, in other words, it’s time to lose an hour’s sleep. Seriously, though, another sign of change, of moving forward. So, make a note to move your clocks ahead 1 hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 14th. (And remember that hour falls back to us in November.)
Mercury is still moving forward as well and that takes it into the sign of Pisces on Monday, March 15th, at 6:26 p.m. EDT. Which provides energies to make the memory excellent and the ability to concentrate unsurpassed.
I might point out here that one of the benefits of this placement is that those affected by this energy can be amazingly psychic. It’s almost like they can access the Akashic Records or some other mystical fund of information. Statements can be made for which there appears to be no apparent source of proof, but they more often than not turn out to be right. If, however, these energies affect a person negatively, it can make them prey to the strangest delusions and fantasies.
People can tune in unconsciously to the thoughts and moods of those around them and this can easily influence their own thinking. Don’t allow yourself to become trapped in memories to the point that your perception of the present reality is distorted.
This also can make people extremely sensitive to their surroundings and the people in them. This allows them to imagine how it is to be in another person’s situation, because they have been in similar situations and it therefore creates a sympathetic nature. This can cause those affected by these energies to be silent, secretive, and keep their personal, private thoughts to themselves.
This is a time to recognize the importance of mental gestation – those periods when the mind appears to be at a standstill but one’s subconscious is at work. This can be a very creative time.
Once the Sun enters Aries on Saturday, March 20th at 5:37 a.m. EDT, we’re reached the Vernal Equinox or, as it is most commonly recognized, Spring.
This is looked at as one of the two times of the year that express balance. (The other is the Fall or Autumn Equinox.) Day and night are equal – Equinox. Winter is over and now is the time of sprouting seeds and planting. It’s a time of beginnings.
Aries is an out-rushing energy, strong and forceful. Keywords here are: adventurous, pioneering, courageous, and having a blunt, direct manner. This forceful energy is so strong that those affected by it may find it difficult, if not impossible, to endure restrictions.
There is a “me first” attitude to Aries that can cause a person to go to extremes of selfishness, ego, and foolhardiness if not tempered by sensitivity to others. If you’re looking for an energy to help you be more assertive, then this is the one.
Here’s to new beginnings, balance, and the blossoming of the Earth and our lives!
One day later, Venus follow the Sun into the sign of Aries on Sunday, March 21st, at 10:16 a.m. EDT. Here the energies of Venus become brilliant and exciting rather than soothing, domestic, or calm.
Venus is known as the planet of love and here love is by sight. How someone looks is very important to the person with this placement or someone affected by them. In the final analysis, however, a person will choose more with their head than with their heart.
Emotionally impulsive, this placement can cause a person to go after the object of their affection with a single-minded drive. Strangely, these energies can make a person passionate and aggressive one minute: cold and disinterested the next. It can also make a person territorial, once they have “staked a claim,” ready to repel the advances of others.
For a person dedicated to achievement, this is a good placement as it helps to keep one focused, not to be distracted by Venus’ more typical pleasures, comforts, and social leanings.
Well, there you have it. Lots of energies to help you with forward motion, new beginnings, and the like. I hope you find many ways to use them to your betterment.
