Astrological Musings & More

Aries 3

It’s almost that time…Spring. Some of us can “smell” it in the air. Those of us who live in colder climates are excited that we can once again get outside and comfortably do things, whether they are “need tos” or just for fun.

On the calendar, it all begins with the Sun entering the sign of Aries around the 20th of March each year. (This year it happens to be the 19th.) That’s less than a month away! While there is almost always a transition period with the weather, we can pretty much say goodbye to Winter.

Aries is a forceful energy that can be aggressive but is, at least, assertive. Why wouldn’t it be? This sign is ruled by Mars, the red planet and the god of war. Think of that determined “weed” that pushes its way through the crack in the sidewalk to bask in the Sun.

It’s an energy that is courageous, blunt and direct in manner, and has a pioneering, adventurous spirit. This out-rushing force, while primitive in nature and expression, is the point of all beginnings. Is it no wonder that people begin to plan their gardens around this time? That forceful energy aids in the emergence of the sprouting seed.

The thing is, there are other “seeds” that can and should be planted at this time – those of a personal nature. What is it that you want to accomplish this year? It doesn’t matter whether we’re talking career, love, health, or something spiritual. This is the time to plan your own personal garden and make the decision which “seeds” are needed in order for you to reap the “fruits” you seek to grow.

Being the opposite sign to Libra, the sign of balance and harmony, it’s good to keep in mind the sensitivity of others as you use the “me first” attitude of Aries to decide the direction your journey needs to head in this coming growing season. Laying some plans will help you avoid the Aries impulsive, blindly charging in energy. Be adventurous. Be courageous. Be willing to go where you’ve never gone before, but do so with your eyes wide open and strong guiding ideals. The end result could be the things you’ve dreamed of finally coming to fruition.

New Moon in Pisces

You could begin making those plans with this New Moon. That will be happening on Sunday, February 23rd, at 10:32 a.m. EST with the Sun and Moon both in the sign of Pisces – a very fruitful sign for growing.

With all that Pisces influence (by the way, Mercury is also in Pisces right now, even though it’s retrograde and so is Neptune which rules Pisces), the imagination is strong. What a wonderful tool to have for new beginnings! There is a fine line between imagination and illusion, so be sure your imaginative creations aren’t fueled by any illusions you might have.

This is an emotional and spiritual energy that brings heightened sensitivity to music as well as ones surroundings. It can create feeling of vulnerability and the desire to withdraw. If it’s a new beginning you want, imagine it with mind and heart, be sensitive to the feelings that surround it, and stand your ground – expecting to receive it.

Don’t pooh-pooh away your intuition either. It may point the way to where you want to go and how to get there. Don’t allow yourself to become easily discouraged (another Pisces trait). Instead find ways to stay positive in thought and feeling so you magnetize your desires right to you.

With all this water that Pisces represents, expect things to flow and then allow it to be so!

Mercury in Aquarius 2

When we get to Wednesday, March 4th, retrograde Mercury enters Aquarius at 6:08 a.m. EST. This placement loves to analyze character and, with it being retrograde, that means turning those energies inward and analyzing our own characters.

Since this placement also allows for the receiving ideas and information from the archetypal realm of consciousness, it can help us to reveal ourselves to ourselves through the use of the highest intuitive faculties communicating with the Universal Mind. We are still in that time of introspection after all.

Here’s an opportunity to experience oneself and Life beyond the five physical senses. All we have to do is focus inward and pay attention. What a wonderful opportunity!

Venus in Taurus

Later that same day, March 4th, Venus will enter Taurus – a sign it rules – at 10:07 p.m. EST. This is a placement of constant, lasting affections. This is a time when it becomes possible to seek out and find emotional security and stability in love – things that are important to so many of us.

For the artist, writer, and/or musician, this can be a time of beautiful creations from the energies that love beauty in all forms. This includes Nature as well and some, who are affected by these energies, will find themselves eager to take up gardening and growing flowers.

Due take care with the throat area as this is something ruled by Taurus. While it can give you a beautiful speaking or singing voice, it can also cause vulnerability to sore throats and other ailments of the throat.

All in all though, it’s a time of warmth in affection and love as well as a time to enjoy and create beauty in ones life and in the world. Enjoy!

That does it for this time. Wishing you a pleasant and interesting two weeks.
