Astrological Musings & More

I don’t think many people take into consideration the affect that different celestial events can have on us here on Earth.  I’ve said it often and it’s still worth repeating, everything is energy.  Whether you’re talking the effects of the Moon on the Earth’s tides, the Full Moon’s affect on some people, or a close passing asteroid, they all can have an affect on us – mentally, emotionally, physically.

And they there’s that big yellow ball in our skies – the Sun.  It has what are called “solar flares.”  These are defined as “a brief eruption of intense high-energy radiation from the Sun’s surface, associated with sunspots and causing electromagnetic disturbances on the earth, as with radio frequency communications and power line transmissions.” (Thank you, Oxford Languages)  It would seem that if they can affect those things, they can definitely affect us as we are electromagnetic in nature ourselves.  But that thought occurs to few of us.

I’m just spit-balling here, because I’ve not read any actual information, but the Sun is the biggest “fireball” close to us, so it seems logical that if you suffer from any form of inflammation, such as arthritis, that a solar flare might make it worse.  If you have a fiery temperament, a solar flare could cause you to flare more easily or often while it’s occurring.  See where I’m going with this?

Look at the things within your being, on the mental, emotional, and physical levels, and take notice of when they are being affected.  They don’t have to be negative things either.  Look at when you suddenly have a burst of energy or mental creativity, etc.  You may even wonder how that happened.  Was it a planet moving into a fire sign or, perhaps, was here a solar flare?  Yea, it can start to make you realize how easily we are affected by outside sources.  It can also help us to understand ourselves and others a little better.

For now, there’s a Full Moon in Scorpio happening on Monday, April 26th at 11:32 p.m. EDT.  With the Sun in Taurus, success will come through determination and self-reliance, no matter what it is that you’re trying to do.

Both are fixed signs, so people can be very stubborn in their opinions and not easily swayed.  The difference is that one is an earth sign (Taurus) and the other is a water sign (Scorpio) so there can be a tendency to be conservative, but there can also be strong feelings that make a showing when a person is opposed or angered.

There can also be a good deal of secretiveness and a need to curb jealousy, pride, and appetites.

The Moon in Scorpio, by itself, can provide a phenomenal memory that can be both a blessing and a curse.  Remembering the past, if it was good, will put a smile on ones face.  However, if the past holds many bad memories, it can bring up things we’d rather leave forgotten.  That could mean it’s time to deal with them.  After all, isn’t the Full Moon about getting rid of things that no longer serve you?

Perhaps it’s time for you to quit hiding your true feelings about something or someone.  Although Moon in Scorpio energies make it easy to hide how you’re feeling, perhaps the Full Moon is saying:  bring it out of darkness into the light.

It will definitely be an interesting Full Moon that you can use to move yourself forward on your journey.

On Tuesday, April 27th, our reprieve from retrograde energies ends as Pluto in Capricorn goes retrograde at 4:04 p.m. EDT.  Pluto’s retrograde motion generally lasts about five months so it will be October 6th before it turns direct again.

When Pluto goes retrograde, no matter what sign it’s in, its a time to think about the power and control issues in our lives.  With it being an outer planet, it has less of a personal impact than a generational or global one.  Still, an individual can feel the effects of its energies, especially if they have Pluto in Capricorn.

I liked what Astrology King had to say about this year’s Pluto retrograde: “If people have controlled or manipulated you then now is the time to let them go.  If you have been too controlling of others or situations then it is time to let go.  This is not a time for power tripping but a time for elimination.  Fated events and repeating themes will reinforce which or your controlling habits, compulsions, addictions, or prejudices must be eliminated.

“If you have been too smothering and controlling in a relationship, holding on too tight, then you may be forced to let go.  If obsessive or compulsive behavior involving food or drugs has taken hold of your life, then events may force a turnaround.  The more intense your destructive behavior, the more extreme the detoxification or withdrawal stage will be, such as going cold turkey.

Perhaps suspicion, secrecy, racism, gambling, or porn are taking control and holding you back from spiritual evolution.  Trust in your spirit guides and think of the extremes your ancestors endured to have their genes expressed in you.  Destroying things that have control over you will increase your spiritual power and lead to personal mastery.”

I couldn’t have said that any better.  Thanks to Astrology Kingfor that wonderful insight into the influences we can expect from April 27th to October 6th.

When we finally enter May, we find Mercury enters its home sign of Gemini at 10:49 p.m. EDT on the 3rd.  This is a placement of pure, logical reasoning that is versatile, unbiased, and impersonal in its ability to perceive truth.

Those affected by these energies will find that they are more concerned with facts than with attitudes.

It can create a highly sensitive nervous system that can make it difficult for a person to shut out external stimuli.  That means all speech and activity in ones environment register with intensity in the awareness.  Subjected to this for very long, a person’s nerves become frazzled and they can feel confusion, fatigue, and sometimes irritability.

This placement can also cause people to become intensely curious and there can be a variety of interests.  The mind can flit from one idea to another which can lead to spreading oneself too thin and dividing the attention too often.  There can be periods of difficulty in making up ones mind and the mind can be changed often.

This is an excellent placement for furthering ones education, whether by actually attending classes or by self-education.  That enhances the use of ones mental capabilities, in other words, this is an excellent time to use your mind to your best advantage.

Finally, Venus will join Mercury in the sign of Gemini on Saturday, May 8th at 10:01 p.m. EDT.  It is here that Venus has very little of her natural demonstrativeness and warmth.

Those born with this placement, or who are affected by it, will rarely like to be touched.  In some cases, devotion is expressed through spirit and mind rather than the body.

Here, people like to read about love and think about it.  They understand love, but rarely feel it.  Love, to them, is intellectual.  This is the energetic placement of the scientist who needs to be free of distraction to pursue their intellectual interests.

It is good, however, for traveling in pursuit of pleasure and social activity.  Artistic expression would be best done through literary activities, especially poetry.

An unusual energetic placement for Venus, but still very interesting.

That’s it for now.  The planets are giving us a lot to think about and some interesting energies to work with.  May you find them useful on your journey.

Love & Blessed Be
