Astrological Musings & More

With the Grand Conjunction that’s just taken place between Jupiter and Saturn in the sign of Aquarius, some are heralding this as the real beginning of the Age of Aquarius.  Others, such as myself, just see it as a reaffirming of that fact since the beginning of the Age is seen as having happened on December 21, 2012

No matter what your view is, or if you don’t even have one, it should be noted that this doesn’t mean everything now will be all peaches and cream.  In actuality, it can seem like we’re living in a hurricane as the energies shift from Pisces to Aquarius.  We’re shifting from the most fluid water sign of the zodiac to an electrifying, fixed air sign.

Aquarius is original, inventive, intellectual, friendly, independent, idealistic, humanitarian, progressive, and freedom-loving.  When this energy is activated, commitment to a cause or ideal can be unwavering.  There is a downside to this sign, just as there is to every sign of the zodiac.

When one takes being original and inventive to the extreme, you can have a rebel who deliberately breaks with all kinds of traditions and creates their own rules.  That, in and of itself, isn’t necessarily a bad thing, unless the person, and others, force those new rules on others possibly creating a revolution.

Then there’s the fact that Aquarius is ruled by Uranus and that can cause people and situations to be erratic, unstable, and/or unreliable.  The fixed nature of the sign can also make people stubborn and unlikely to budge from their preconceptions.

So, now I remind you that it is we who choose, albeit unconsciously, what parts of this energy we will attract to ourselves and use.  If your nature is one of a positive, optimistic tone, then you will find you attract the positive traits of this sign to you.  On the other hand, if you have a tendency to be more somber, negative then the same type of energies from Aquarius will be drawn to you.

Humanity is still working on becoming aware on a conscious level.  For that reason, many are still unaware of how people, situations, and, yes, ever the energies of the planets and signs affect them.  This is the reason we won’t necessarily be seeing “the Summer of Love” type energies that were expressed in the words of the Fifth Dimension’s song, “Age of Aquarius.”  Between the chaos of the change from Pisces to Aquarius and the unconscious influence that Aquarian energies can and will have on people, we are in for a bumpy ride for a while.

I, for one, will be picturing the positive attributes of the sign – probably with a few hippies with flowers in their hair.  It couldn’t hurt!

In the meantime, we have a New Moon happening in the sign of Capricorn on Wednesday, January 13th at 0:00 a.m. EST (Yes,that’s exactly midnight, folks!)

With both the Sun and the Moon in Capricorn, it can incline a person to be very thoughtful with feelings that are not expansive.  For this reason, there can be an inclination to despondency and to retire inwardly.  Those feeling the effect of these energies should find people, situations, and things that cause them to smile and laugh.  Gratitude is another expression that can lift ones energies during this time.

The upside is that these energies give a good business ability and can make a person steady, quiet, tactful, persistent, and thorough in ones methods.  There’s a great deal of practicality and the ability to persevere and overcome obstacles.

As a New Moon, it’s a good time to take account of who and what may be creating the obstacles in your life and find ways to remove them from your path.  That way, as the Moon waxes, you will have a clearer path to continue your journey.

Uranus has been in Taurus since early March, 2019 and it’s been retrograde, this last time, since August 16, 2020.  Now, on Thursday, January 6th, it will turn direct at 5:27 p.m. EST.

Uranus being direct in Taurus could spell major reforms in business and the economy with people desiring the application of humanitarian principles.  It could really shake up established ways of thinking and doing as a multitude of people begin to think outside the proverbial box.

On one side, you may have those who very much want to be practical but in a unique and original way while, on the other side, there will be those who will be unyielding in their stubbornness.  Both will be determined and both will have a fixity of purpose – one to keep the status quo and the other to radically change things.

There is a huge amount of energy attached to this transit and also monumental will to do.  The trick will be to make changes, but not too quickly.

Then the Sun moves into Aquarius on Tuesday, January 19th at 3:40 p.m. EST.  That makes four planets in this sign.  I would definitely say expect the unexpected and possibly when you least expect it.

I could repeat everything I said at the very beginning of this article, while talking about the Age of Aquarius, but I think it’s enough to say that, if each of us things of these energies in a positive, progressive way, we can attract changes, for the better, not only in our own lives, but those of everyone on Planet Earth.  I would want to be part of that wouldn’t you?

For all those born under this sign, “Wow!,” imagine what this can mean for you this year. Happy Birthday!!!

See you in two weeks…

Love & Blessed Be
