Astrological Musings & More

Astrology 2

“To everything there is a season…” Christians know this quote and all that follows it from Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8, but for many of us who grew up in the 1960s, it’s part of the lyrics from a song entitled “Turn! Turn! Turn!“ by a group called The Byrds. Either way, from this astrologer’s point of view, it makes a case for astrology – timing is everything.

The inference isn’t saying that astrology or, more specifically, your astrology chart is equal to pre-destination. What it does say is that working with the planetary energies will make our choices, plans, and dreams much easier to come into fruition than we try to make things happen when the energies are flowing in a less favorable direction. (Think trying to swim against the current of a river rather than with it.)

By getting to know our own astrological energies and then learning how the daily astrological energies affect us, we can eventually gain an instinct when the most advantageous days may be to initiate new projects, make complete changes, bring other things to an end, etc. After a while, it becomes almost automatic to check at least where the Moon is, by phase and sign, before doing something important in ones life.

If you come to learn, through this observation, that Full Moon energy and crowds are just too much for you, then you may find it’s better to stay in on that Full Moon than go to that concert, sporting event, or even just to the mall. Peace versus panic and you decide you’d rather have peace. It’s really that simple. A little knowledge, a little observation, and then making the choice that benefits you best. Yes, timing is everything.

So, whether it’s a new job, moving to a new residence, getting married, having surgery, or anything that’s an important change or event in your life, going with the energies helps to provide the best outcome. Astrology, even just knowledge of the Moon’s signs and phases, is here to help you succeed. Yes, to everything there is a season and astrology can help you decide when that may be.

Earth Day 4
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that April 22nd was chosen as the date for Earth Day in 1970. The sign of Taurus has been suggested to be the one sign of the zodiac that could represent the Earth itself being a fixed, earth sign.

This year celebrates the 50th year of this celebration. I find it interesting that, because of Covid-19, we humans have been quarantined and immediately the Earth has shown signs of regenerating. Water in the Ganges has begun to clear; pollution in the air over China has begun to clear; swans and dolphins have returned to the canals of Venice; sea turtles are again laying eggs on the human abandoned beaches that were once their natural laying grounds, etc. Perhaps it’s we humans who are the real virus where the health of the Earth is concerned. That’s definitely something to think about.

For this 50th anniversary, it could possibly be the most valuable thing we humans could do if we pledged ourselves to better stewardship of the only planet we have to live on.

New Moon in Taurus 2
And what better time to make a pledge that could lead to better treatment of our planet than during the New Moon in Taurus that happens on that same day – Wednesday, April 22nd at 10:26 p.m. EDT? After all, New Moons are for new beginnings and, as with any New Moon, this one has both a Taurus Sun and Taurus Moon.

That’s a combination that’s determined and not easily thwarted. These are energies that are fearless, persistent, hopeful, and practical. All the energies needed for successful beginnings.

The energy of this lunar placement can help provide plenty of resources for whatever you may need. The idea is to gather them in and conserve them for when they will be needed.

This is an energy that attracts the good things in life. Support from friends and family are available to those who are affected by these energies. It may be because there is also devotion, perseverance, and good old-fashioned common sense.

Whether you’re talking love, business, money, or any other situation, it will aid those who apply that common sense to all situations and problems. It helps keep a person together during an emergency.

However, if there is an unwillingness to changed established emotional attitudes, it can create problems. Add a tendency to laziness or an excessive attachment to material comforts and stumbling blocks can find a place in your path.

Overall, this is a positive energy with many positive qualities that can help with any new beginning you may be seeking.

Pluto Retrograde

Pluto in Capricorn goes retrograde on Saturday, April 25th at 2:54 p.m. No matter what sign Pluto is in or the house it occupies when it goes retrograde it brings lessons about the need to fulfill individual growth.

This becomes even more pronounced with Pluto in Capricorn which is ruled by Saturn, a karmic planet. Now it becomes less important what you do than what you think about what you do. This is a time where you may find yourself living in your conscience where you spend time sifting through a multitude of feelings you are experiencing within yourself.

Pluto in Capricorn is about learning how to establish your individuality and authority within in the culture or society that you live. This happens by learning how society works and this means learning related lessons in discipline, self-determination, and submission to a higher authority.

Now, Pluto in Capricorn turns retrograde bringing these same lessons back around again so you can see and evaluate your progress or possible regression. Spiritually, the lesson can be one of learning to “be in this world but not of it.” That entails rising about the karma of our entire race.

Sound like heavy stuff? It can be since Pluto is considered the guardian of the soul. Enlightenment and compassion allows an individual to attain spiritual knowledge and occult powers. This means gaining an awareness of truth and that is done through experience.

All this is now being offered to any of us who are affected or choose to tap into the energies of Pluto in Capricorn retrograde.

Mercury in Taurus 2

Lastly, Mercury will be entering Taurus on Monday, April 27th at 3:53 p.m. EDT. This positioning of Mercury aids the ability to be very patient and practical.

Opinions may be stuck to very stubbornly. It’s hard to persuade anyone affected by this placement once they have decided on an idea or course of action. They resist all outside influences.

While the intellect may be very fine, more will be learned from actual experiences rather that regular forms of “schooling.” The road to success is paved with slow, steady, surety. Once a project is begun, distraction by side issues just doesn’t happen.

This is a great placement for good ideas involving financial management. The energies of this placement can aid in the building of finances, romantic relationships, the arts in all forms and the collecting of art objects as well.

With patience and practicality, you can use this time for good ideas in the area of your finances and other material possessions to build a more secure base for yourself.

Phases of the Moon
That should give you quite a bit to think about for the next two weeks. Stay safe! See you then.
