Astrological Musings & More

Energy of the Planets

I’ve had a couple of people contact me and want to know, “What the heck is going on energy-wise?” because they were bouncing off walls or diving deeply into depression. The fact is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to that question.

We are truly individuals in our journeys and how Life, in all its ramifications, affects us. When it comes to astrology, that individuality becomes even clearer as none has the exact same astrology map as you do – not even if you were born a twin, triplet, or more. Our life experiences are also different. When you combine the two, you can begin to see why daily planetary placements/energies affect each of us differently.

While one person may be bouncing off the walls because the Full Moon is in Taurus (and he/she is a Taurus), another person may become depressed because while the Full Moon is in Taurus that means the Sun is in Scorpio and his/her Moon is in Pisces so all that energy is dredging up emotional issues that are causing depression. I could go on and on with examples, but you get the idea.

It is truly a very personal thing and the only way you can become familiar with how and why you are acting, reacting, feeling the way you are at certain times is to start being aware of what signs the Sun and Moon are in, at least, and what phase the Moon is in. I think you will probably begin to see a pattern emerge. It’s a way to get to know yourself better and to be prepared for certain energies that might affect you. By beginning to know and understand that, you find ways to counter the effects of those energies so that you stay more balanced and in control.

Full Moon in Taurus 2

Speaking of Full Moons in Taurus, we have one coming up on Tuesday, November 12th at 8:34 a.m. EST. As I stated earlier, the Sun will be in Scorpio and, with two fixed signs here, it could be all about maintaining the status quo, especially where finances are concerned.

Intuition and determination are the keywords here. No matter what you feel you’re facing right now, pay attention to that quiet voice of intuition and be determined that you will find the best course of action to resolve whatever the issue may be.

When the Moon is in Taurus, you may discover there are more resources available to you than you were previously aware of. It often just becomes a matter of approaching things from a common sense, practical manner. The Full Moon give you the celestial help to manifest those financial pathways, should you choose to do so.

Mars in Scorpio 3

Then, on Tuesday, November 19th, we have Mars moving into Scorpio at 2:41 a.m. EST. Mars used to rule Scorpio before the discovery of Pluto. The combination of the planet of war with the sign containing the scorpion sting makes for a tremendous potential to do good or to do harm. For those affected by the energies of this placement, it may take strength of character to channel this energy in a positive manner.

Something else to remember during this transit of Mars through Scorpio is, “thoughts are things.” Whether it’s a negative thought or a positive one, when directed at someone or even just about someone, it has the potential to be felt by that person. Someone would have to be totally insensitive to not feel thoughts directed at them or about them.

This is an excellent placement for a strong intuition and good psychic potential. In particular, the areas of alchemy, magick, and creative visualization are favored.

Some may find their sexual side totally insatiable during this transit. What you may really be looking for is understanding – allowing someone to get close enough to touch and see the real you on all levels. Now, that’s a turn on!

If you’re a writer or an artist, you may feel the need or just see your creations become murderous, bloodthirsty, or outrageous. The average person may find a liking for horror movies or scary TV shows. That’s just part of the energies of Mars in Scorpio.

Dealing with unfinished business, either in this life or from past lifetimes, can be another way this energy may manifest in your life. This can include heavy-duty karma spawned from fear or vindictiveness in a past life or just merely life experiences you’re still in the process of working on. It could even be that you realized that wishing isn’t enough to make things happen, that you have to put physical, mental, and emotional energy into making things happen.

An interesting transit with intense energies to help you do the work of your journey in this life.

Mercury in Scorpio

Retrograde Mercury, which is in Scorpio, will turn direct on Wednesday, November 20th at 2:12 p.m. EST. This allows us to take we may have learned, during Mercury’s retrograde motion, and put it to work for us.

The energies of Mercury in Scorpio afford us the ability to be shrewd and to see things quite clearly. That means, if we use those traits, we should not be able to be deceived. The down side is to realize it can make us overly critical of those around us.

If you choose to use the higher energies of this placement, it could make you a fighter for noble causes or cause you to investigate the mysteries of the Universe and human life. It will give you determination for whatever you choose to do.

There will be those, however, who have neither scruples nor pity for those who might oppose them. They may, out of arrogance, look down upon anyone who differs with them.

There will be those who are deceptive toward others. They can be secretive while also very good at wheedling secrets out of others that they can use against them. They can be vengeful and also want to humiliate those who seem to oppose them.

The choice is always ours how we use planetary energies. In this instance, there are some intense intellectual energies that, used positively, can benefit many of us.

Sagittarius 6

On Friday, November 22nd, the Sun will make its annual sojourn through Sagittarius beginning at 10:00 a.m. EST. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and is about expansion. This is evidenced by the symbol of the centaur shooting for great heights. Sagittarius rules the 9th house of the chart and is about higher education, philosophy, law, spirituality, intuition and psychic experiences, to name a few topics.

The energies are friendly, outgoing, sincere, open-minded, optimistic, and jovial. However there are also energies that are tactless, irresponsible, and capricious. Those affected by these energies are freedom-loving who need room.

When the Sun is in Sagittarius, people can become restless or have a sense of discontinuity. There may be a desire for change or motion resulting in an itch to travel. It can also bring about a change of residence or employment.

Being expansive can mean moving beyond the boundaries you or someone else have created for you. It can also mean looking at your life from a higher perspective. It may be time to “wax philosophical” and take a look at your dreams, including the ones you’ve put away. It may be time to take them seriously again.

This can be a time of great success as Jupiter is known as the Great Beneficent. Take advantage of the energies being offered here and bring your dreams and desires into manifestation.

Venus in Capricorn

Lastly, we have Venus moving into Capricorn at 7:29 p.m. EST on Monday, November 25th. Here Venus can become more heavy in its love energies. While it can make some very lustful and earthy, others may be very detached and cold. There can be selfishness and small-mindedness where love is concerned.

These energies can make people affected by them touchy and jealous. Because of a fear of rejection, it can cause others to be suspicious. It may take encouragement to get them to relax and love.

For the artist, it can give a strong sense of composition and structure. For the musician, a leaning toward what is more classical or more traditional.

This is a time to go slow, be practical and patient where love and the arts are concerned.

May you find smooth sailing through the planetary energies of the next two weeks. See you soon!
