The end to 2017 approaches and what’s really interesting is how it speaks to “new beginnings.”
With only two weeks remaining, I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that there’s a New Moon that happens with both the Sun and the Moon in Sagittarius. This is a sign that speaks to adventure; tells us to aim high – “shoot for the Moon”; and has energies that cause a desire for change and motion.
During this two weeks that Moon will be waxing – increasing in size and strength – which means if you make that “wish” for adventure, for change or motion, and hold the image firmly in your mind, the Moon’s waxing will aid you in its manifestation.
Let’s not forget the celebration, or at least recognition, of the Winter Solstice. It may be the day of the longest night, but it marks the “new” Sun. Huh? Just as the Sun began its waning at Summer Solstice, now it begins its waxing – just like the Moon does each month. The days begin to grow longer as the Sun waxes. With this lengthening of days, comes hope and optimism for many.
Of course there’s the actual calendar New Year. On December 31st, we will welcome in 2018, a new year filled with possibilities. Part of that welcoming in includes the ever-increasing light and strength of that New Moon. Did you make a wish? Have you continued to visualize it? I hope so because on January 1st, the first day of the New Year there’s a Full Moon and it’s not just any Full Moon – it’s a Super Moon. The Moon will look bigger and its energies will be stronger than other Full Moons.
With the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Cancer, there’s an opportunity to be both intuitive and practical; to both feel where the road may lead next and know what the common sense thing to do is.
It really doesn’t end there though. January will see two Full Moons and a “blue” Moon is filled with luck for those who tap into its energies.
Oh, one last thing. Many have already begun speaking about the fact that 2018, in numerology, is an “11”. Its keyword is inspiration. It’s true that 11 is a master number and its energies are about revelation, idealism, and intuition as well as involving super intelligence but it also reduces to a “2” and 2 is about cooperation, the ability to work well with others, and to follow instructions. Its energies are filled with love, peace, and the search for companionship in many forms. Its keyword is association.
So, as you can see, there are many energies is in this next two weeks especially that tells us if we want a new beginning, all we have to do is state our desire, visualize, and stay tapped into the positive energies that abound!
That New Moon in Sagittarius that I spoke of will be occurring on Monday, December 18th, at 1:30 a.m. EST.
Sagittarius is a fiery energy that can cause restlessness. It can cause an itch to travel, to change jobs, to move, and more. These same energies can cause some to dream what others consider the impossible and then, despite the doubts of friends and family, go out and manifest it.
Optimism to the point of carelessness should be avoided, but never allow doubt or fear – yours or that of others – to dampen your adventurous spirit. Allow your spiritual side to guide you and you can’t go wrong.
The very next day, Tuesday the 19th of December at 11:48 p.m. EST, Saturn will begin its journey through the sign it rules, Capricorn. This is an ambitious energy that can make some feel a need to make significant achievements in their careers. All endeavors should be undertaken with a practical purpose in mind.
While this is an energy that causes people to believe that everyone should earn what they get, it is also an energy that sees those in position of power and authority helping others to help themselves.
The energies of Saturn in Capricorn invoke honesty and integrity in all dealings. Yes, there can and will be those who exhibit the negative energies of this placement: callousness, unscrupulousness, dictatorship, and rigidity in beliefs and attitudes. With spiritual understanding and compassion, these tendencies can be offset.
Saturn in Capricorn energies can teach us many things. What our lessons are depends on what we focus on.
As the Sun moves into Capricorn on Thursday, December 21st, at 11:29 a.m. EST, we mark the first day of Winter and the rebirth of the Sun. Even as the longest night of the year has arrived, so, too, has the beginning of longer days and our journey toward Spring.
This is a time of practicality. This energy promotes biding ones time until the situation is just right for whatever our desires and ambitions may be. Its an energy that allows us to persevere and overcome obstacles – just like the goat that is its symbol.
The downside to Capricorn is that it can be cold, pessimistic, rigid. This can cause us to feel restrained, achieving little or nothing even though we are giving it our all. Capricorn energy wants us to be forever climbing, reaching new heights of attainment.
To all those born under this sign:
Woohoo! Mercury in Sagittarius will turn direct, from its retrograde motion, at 8:51 p.m. EST on Friday, December 22nd. Now, everything we’ve learned since it went retrograde on December 3rd can be put to use to move ourselves forward.
The energies now aid the mind in being swift and brilliant. Some will find their thoughts concerned with all manner of social thought. It is here that the concern will be more with attitudes than facts, which can give insight into social motivation.
The warning here is to not lose sight of the truth in any situation and this does come with paying attention to detailed factual information.
Those affected by these energies are honest at heart. The energy causes people to be forthright and direct. This can cause people to say exactly what’s on their minds without pausing to think about how it will affect others.
Like the arrow from an archer, this energy is swift, pointed, direct and should be appreciated and used for clear communications of all kinds.
Venus will move into Capricorn on Monday, December 25th at 0:26 a.m. EST. Knowing that many will be celebrating Christmas on this day, be aware that this energy can cause some to jealous, touchy, and very particular about other people’s attitudes toward them.
It’s not all bad though. People affected by these energies may just be on a quest for a good time. Being more domestic in nature, staying at home rather than going to a party may be more their style. Inviting others into their homes may bring them joy.
For artists, this can be a time when you are most concerned about composition and structure or you may find yourself drawn to classical music and other more traditional art forms.
However you may find yourself affected by these energies, it will be in a way that invokes older, more traditional forms that may be “earthy” in nature.
As I close this segment of Musings, I want to wish all of you a very happy holiday season!
