There always seem to be a lot of fear and apprehension surrounding retrograde planets, especially Mercury. This week, Mercury will turn retrograde bringing the number of retrograde planets we have right now to a total of four.
Now before everyone considers going running, screaming into the night because of the perceived “bad luck” they’re about to have, let me tell you what you should really consider.
First, that a planet actually moves backwards in its orbit around the Sun is an illusion caused by the Earth overtaking another planet during the solar orbit of both planets.
Second, because every action creates a reaction, the energy of that apparent retrograde motion does create an energetic affect on planet Earth and all who live on it.
In a natal astrology chart, retrogrades, according to many astrologers, point to past life lessons we came here to work through in this lifetime. To me, that should be looked upon as a blessing. We’re being given an indication of at least some of the reason why we’re here and how we can improve and grow spiritually.
In our daily lives, retrograde planets should be considered a focal point for attention, on the part of each of us, for development and transmutation. These energies are challenges that represent opportunities for development that could spell the betterment of our current lives. So what opportunities could each of these current retrograde planets be offering us?
Venus, which will go direct on April 15th, offers the chance to look at our perspectives on love, affection, being sociable, beauty, friendship, art, music, and even our ability to receive.
Jupiter draws our attention to matters of generosity, expansion, enthusiasm, optimism, spontaneity, wisdom gained through experience, and our ability to grow in physical, mental, and spiritual directions.
Saturn challenges us to strengthen our personalities through endurance, persistence, and limitation. It turns our attention to introspection, meditation, and concentration, offering us the chance to change our lives through discipline. Taking responsibility is another lesson of Saturn as well as the good use of time and being organized.
Mercury, of course, has to do with communication, interpretation, reasoning, as well as travel. It also asks us to take a look at our adaptability and versatility, our attentiveness, the ability to gather facts, and our consistency.
Since Pluto will be going retrograde later this month, I would point out that challenges and opportunities from a retrograde Pluto might include healing and cleansing, destruction and rebirth, and even infection, obsession, decay and contamination.
As you can see, there’s lots and lots that can be gained from taking a positive look at retrogrades as opportunities to bring change into our lives for the better. So don’t “duck and cover” – rather stand tall, look these energies right in the proverbial eye and be willing to take on the challenges offered by them.
There’s a Full Moon happening in the sign of Libra on Tuesday, April 11th, at 2:08 a.m. EDT. There’s lots of talk on the internet about the “Pink” Full Moon, but if you’re expecting to see the Moon turn pink, you will be sadly disappointed. Why is it called “pink” then? Because it’s named after the pink ground flower called phlox that blooms in the early Spring across the U.S. and Canada.
This Full Moon brings the opportunity to try to understand the other person’s point of view. After all, Moon in Libra emphasizes teamwork and sociability. So being aware of the needs and desires of others can make for a win-win situation on any front.
Atmosphere, aesthetics, and appearance will all be very important to those affected by these energies. That’s part of the reason it’s a great time for anything having to do with art or music. Whether creating it or just appreciating it, it will be pleasurable.
Forming partnerships, of any kind, while the Moon is in Libra is fortunate. Perhaps that’s because the energies are friendly and tolerant.
With the Sun in Aries, a Full Moon in Libra can cause a highly sensitive nature. This can make a person very observant and alert.
Venus in Pisces will turn direct on Saturday, April 15th at 6:17 a. m. EDT, allowing us to now express outwardly all that we learned from the retrograde motion of this planet.
Did you discover any illusions you have about love or the sorrows those illusions may be causing you? Did you give yourself a chance to look at Life from a higher perspective.
Venus in Pisces energies can be romantic and sensitive, but can also cause some to be overly self-sacrificing. It’s good to intuitively know how to please others and to be considerate. Are you showing the same consideration for yourself?
This is a wonderful position for an artist, writer or actor. That ability to poetical express oneself is enhanced by the ability to draw on higher dimensions for inspiration.
While Venus remains in Pisces, avoid excessive sentimentality and be discriminating in your choice of love interests.
The Sun will make its annual sojourn through the sign of Taurus beginning on Wednesday, April 19th, at 5:27 p.m. EDT.
Although a fixed earth sign that exudes practicality, it is ruled by Venus and makes the natives of this sign lovers of beauty and quite charming.
The possessiveness this sign is known for comes from a strong need for emotions security that can turn their affectionate nature into one where jealousy and suspicion ruin the very thing they desire so much.
Other traits of this sign include patience, reliability, and loyalty. They’re often very good with finances as well. Of course, like every sign, there’s a downside. In this case, stubbornness, laziness, a bad temper, and over-indulgence in food and drink are the worst of the traits.
That rulership by Venus makes projects having to do with any form of art or beauty highlighted. Whether it’s a painting, a garden, or a new look for yourself, the energies of Taurus will aid you.
Pluto in Capricorn goes retrograde on Thursday, April 20th at 8:46 a.m. EDT. The message here will be to dig out anything from your past that is preventing you from moving forward.
Pluto is about transformation while Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and represents limitations and boundaries. Now this energy will be moving back at you, possibly physically altering your life in some way. It can make you feel like there’s no way forward. There is, you may just have to wait a while for it to appear.
If you are already finding people, situations, and things that are being pulled away from you (or you from them), let go. This will allow for the appearance and/or growth of new situations, things and associations when the time is right.
I know any planet in Capricorn can make some of us feel weighed down and pessimistic. Where Pluto is concerned, this is a chance for big change to happen. Give it time, as Pluto will remain retrograde from now through most of September.
Now that Mercury is retrograde, it will back up into the sign of Aries on Thursday, April 20th, at 1:37 p. m. EDT.
So, the retrograde opportunities and challenges will now involve patience, mental stimulation, and judgment.
Now is the time for new ideas and originality. Now is the time for wit and humor. Now, also, is the time for listening to and considering the
thoughts and ideas of others. Clarity of communication may be challenging now, but it will be well worth it!
Use good judgment and don’t rush into anything right now, especially where travel is concerned or delays and frustrations may become more than you bargained for.
On Friday, April 21st, Mars moves into Gemini at 6:32 a. m. EDT which can cause some to want to do a lot of traveling. On the other hand, others may fine that they want to read on a consistent basis or take another course in something they’ve been thinking about for a while.
This is also a time when there will be a need for a focal point in life in order to channel our energies constructively rather than waste them by creating too many irons in the fire or just dabbling here and there.
Energy now is primarily mental and many will find their physical energy level is erratic. There can be a lack of practicality so having a trusted friend or advisor can be helpful to make the most of the physical energy you do have and not waste it.
Restlessness can lead to many changes, particularly in job or occupation. There may even be circumstances that create the need to work several jobs at once.
If you’re looking to make changes in any area of your life, this is a good energy to rap into as long as you focus before acting.
OMG! The planets are really moving and grooving this time! Take advantage of all that is being offered energetically. It just may be the knock on the door you’ve been waiting for!
