There’s always been a lot of talk about Mars – both science fiction and science fact. Although Venus is closer to us, Mars and its more hospitable atmosphere has always drawn our attention to it. Movies have been made that suggest that it might have once been inhabited and even that we might be descendants of Martians come to Earth when the atmosphere of the planet was ripped away. Recent discoveries on the surface of Mars have given some indications that not everything is a natural occurrence – that some of these discoveries might be “man-made.” Hmmm…
As an astrologer, I can tell you that there are reasons to want to know more about Mars, even if it is only how it affects us each as individuals. Astrologically, Mars represents courage and energy, but it also represents your temper, fevers, scars, wounds, and accidents. It represents our ability to take action and the possible result of those actions.
For a woman, Mars in her chart can indicate what she feels a man should be like and, therefore, indicate the type of men she will be attracted to. In a man’s chart, Mars will show his concept of masculinity, indicating what type of love he may be.
To understand how Mars affects you energetically, you need to know and understand what sign your natal Mars was in at the time of your birth. Add to this what house it was in and the aspect it formed with other planets and points in your natal chart and you will get a good picture of the influence that Mars holds for you and your life.
The sign that Mars was in at the time of your birth will indicate not only your energy level but also how you control and channel your energies. The house it was in points to the area of your life where a great deal of your energy will take place. Aspects formed with other planets and points in the chart at the time of birth gives you insight into particular talents & aptitudes you may have that will be of help to you and/or difficulties that may challenge you as you journey through this lifetime.
Understanding the placement of your natal Mars will also help you to understand how Mars, when it transits a particular sign, can have an affect on your energies and assertiveness during that transit. It will help you to know when there may be times when things seem to take more effort and when things go more smoothly. Most certainly worth any time and research necessary to discover!
On Sunday, February 26th at 9:58 a.m. EST there will be a New Moon occurring in Pisces with a Solar Eclipse.
That Solar Eclipse – the ring of fire – will only be visible along a narrow path from the southern tip of South America to Angola in Africa. If the weather is favorable, a partial eclipse will be visible in much of South America, Antarctica, South/West Africa and the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. That means those of us in the northern hemispheres won’t see it, but, in my opinion, if you open your awareness, you will feel it.
Moon in Pisces is a time to follow your intuition. It is here that psychic qualities are strong. Don’t allow fear to make you deliberately push aside that quiet voice that’s trying to give you important guidance.
With the Sun and Moon both in Pisces, there may be a tendency to be over-anxious and/or restless. Don’t allow the wonderful imaginative qualities that Pisces brings to turn morbid on you. Find reasons to bring yourself back to the positive energies of Pisces that include being sympathetic, good-natured, easy-going, and affectionate.
Use that great imaginative quality in areas such as music, painting, and/or writing. Use your imagination to plan a trip and, even if you can’t take it right now, travel there in your mind, enjoying all that you see.
Be aware that these same energies can cause vacillation, irresolution, a lack of promptness and inability to decide. Being aware is half the battle. Once you know, you can take steps to raise your vibration by coming back to the more pleasant and positive qualities of Pisces.
