Like the ancient astrologer in the picture, I spend a lot of my time deep in thought, trying to understand the mysteries of the Universe and of the universe that resides within each of us. “As above, so below.” is a paraphrased version of what was taught by Hermes Trismegistus. Still, it has given me food for thought for decades.
The complexity of each human being is a puzzle that only begins to be understood through the use of astrology. Loving puzzles, I believe that’s what has made astrology a lifelong enjoyment to me. Each person, who allows me to cast a natal chart for them, gives me a new puzzle, filled with a multitude of pieces, to exam.
These many pieces offer us the opportunity to begin to view and understand ourselves from another perspective other than the mundane. It truly can be exciting, an adventure, if you will.
There is so much more to us and the life we are living here than the “9 to 5” existence to which we have each become so accustomed. Our natal charts are like being given keys to a hidden room where we can find many things we had no idea existed. It can be a real eye-opener.
Fox Mulder (X-Files) always said, “The Truth is out there.”, but Fox was only half right. “As above, so below.” What’s out there helps to explain what’s inside each of us. Who couldn’t use some help understanding themselves? If you’re up for the adventure, I offer you this:
We have a Full Moon happening in Capricorn on Tuesday, July 19th at 6:56 p.m. EDT. This is time when there is a lacking in sentiment. Everything is practical, down-to-earth, weighty as far as the emotions are concerned.
With the Sun in Cancer (the sign the Moon naturally rules), it can create ambition to acquire wealth, particularly in the form of money and property.
Emotionally it can create an inability to express ones internal feelings. This can create frustration and even make a person appear cold. Depression can come easily and cause a desire to drown ones sorrows in drink.
On the positive side, there is a sense of duty and responsibility that is very helpful. There is also an ability to make quick decisions.
The advice for this Full Moon – focus on the practical, ambitious, quick decision aspects of this sign and allow them to assist you in moving forward in your life.
On Friday, July 22nd the Sun will begin its yearly transit of Leo at 5:30 a.m. EDT. This is the sign that is ruled by the Sun so there are many, many good energies that can be accessed during this time.
This is a very creative, extroverted energy. As the Sun is the center of our solar system, Leo energy encourages us to step into the spotlight and even take a leadership position.
The energies offered are generous, loyal, fun, original, strong, and determined. There is also a down-side, as with any sign of the zodiac. People affected by them can be intolerant, patronizing, snobbish, and overly dramatic.
Leo rules the heart and this can be a time of romance and affection. Without admiration and appreciation that can cause the romance to quickly disappear.
This also being a time of independence and ambition, people may refuse to accept limitations. The attitude can be “Go for the gold!” – the metal of Leo and the Sun.
To all those celebrating a birthday …
If you’re a skywatcher and enjoy seeing the “fireworks” of the Universe, then you’ll want to be watching the night of July 29th when the Delta Aquarid meteor shower reaches its peak.
These faint, medium speed meteors can reach a maximum of 15-20 per hour. You’ll have to look to the South, an hour or two before dawn, for the best viewing of them.
Uranus, which is in Aries, will be turning retrograde on Friday, July 29th at 5:06 p.m. EDT. The energy of this retrograde placement stirs up the energies of individuality, independence and uniqueness. The desire for spontaneity may become strong. Any barrier, that causes one for feel bound, will cause some to feel the need to break it.
There can almost be an obsession to prove that no one person or idea can bind the individual. Traditions be damned! This is the cry of both the rebel and the pioneer who desire to walk where there are no paths, blazing new trails for others of like mind to follow.
This can be a time of breakthroughs and progress, either for the individual or because of the individual. Very exciting and filled with infinite possibilities!!!
Mercury moves into Virgo, a sign it rules, on Saturday, July 30th at 2:19 p.m. EDT. Although primarily an intellectual position, it is a strong one for Mercury. Pure reason can cause those affected by these energies to forget to take human feelings and failings into consideration.
It’s not that human feelings aren’t understood. It’s just that it’s only on an intellectual level and not with the individual’s own emotions. The manner is rather practical but impersonal.
Anything that deals strictly with facts is favored now – science, law, math, etc. Doctors and nurses affected by this energy will be thorough and efficient but probably not have a very good “bed-side” manner, offering little sympathy to the patient.
People can also be very critical and have little tolerance for those who are not as intellectually sharp as they are.
Use the positive attributes of this transit for any intellectual endeavor that doesn’t require a lot of emotion.
May the warmth of the Sun put a smile on your face and kindle the fires of love and kindness in your heart!
Love & Blessed Be
