This is my favorite time of the year. Why wouldn’t be? I’m a Taurus! Seriously, though, it’s about Earth Day, Spring being in full bloom and warmer temperatures as the Sun has climbed higher in the sky, warming the Earth.
The myth of Taurus is that he was a white bull who courted Europa, bearing her on his back. In actuality, he was Zeus in disguise who, when he returned to his normal form, placed the Bull in the heavens for all to see.
When most people think of Taurus, they seem to think of stubbornness and bad tempers (stubborn as an Ox and like a Bull in a china shop). Taurus is more than that though.
Taurus people are usually practical, reliable, and, believe it or not, patient. They also have strong powers of endurance and can be very persistent, determined and, yes, strong-willed. Being warm-hearted and affectionate comes easy to them thanks to their ruling planet, Venus. They love most things connected with the arts: literature, music, painting, etc. as well as having a love for luxury and good food.
The down-side to Taurus, where their lessons lie, has to do with possessiveness, being lazy and self-indulgent, and also being resentful, greedy and stubborn. They can also lack flexibility and originality.
Whether you’re talking career, home or marriage, having a sense of security is important to a Taurus. Flares of temper can come from jealousy that stems from that possessiveness I mentioned.
Taureans won’t be rushed and take few, if any risks. This comes from a solid, ingrained sense of self-preservation and, of course, that need for a sense of security.
Taureans have a great sense for business and, for the most part, are very good with money and finances. This makes them good business people, accountants and bankers.
Living in the country or a small town has much more appeal than living in the city. Many like gardening, landscaping, being in the woods, etc. Anything that keeps them close to the earth.
There is an artistic side to Taurus and many successful sculptors and architects are Taureans. Then there are the singers, like Cher and Bob Seger, who express their artistic talents with their voice.
So when you think of Taurus now, perhaps the focus won’t be so much on the stubbornness and temper but on the solid, steady, reliability of this sign of the zodiac who has much to offer in practicality and trustworthiness.
There’s a Full Moon happening on Friday, April 22nd @ 1:24 a.m. EDT. With the Sun in Taurus, that puts the Moon in Scorpio whose ruling planet is Pluto.
Pluto is known for its transformative energies that can be either constructive of destructive. Just as water can be used to create electricity to light an entire town, it can also be destructive, in the form of a raging flood, that wipes out entire towns. The same holds true for Pluto and, thus, Scorpio.
In this instance, with the Sun in Taurus, if you’ve been trying to break the dam of financial stagnation, this Full Moon gives you the energies to do it. Taurus is the natural ruler of the second house of money and matters connected to money. Combined with Scorpio and its intense regenerative, transformative energies, one could use these energies to turn any financial situation around as easy as a hot knife going through butter.
Here’s the rub….Emotions will be running high – all emotions. So curbing jealousy, pride, anger, and appetites is important. Focus on the good ones: gratitude, appreciation, and joy. Like does attract like, so if you want to make the most of this Full Moon, be determined and rely only on yourself to create positive vibes that will attract more just like them!
Scorpio also inclines to an interest in the occult or mysterious side of life which only adds to its ability to help you manifest into your life those people, situations, and other things you’ve been dreaming of. With all that energy just waiting to be used, this is the perfect time to create the life you’ve been wanting to live, especially where finances are concerned!
This very same day – Friday, April 22nd – is Earth Day. As stewards of the Earth, we should take the time to walk out into Nature and show our appreciation for the planet we live on. Plant a tree, take a walk in the woods, plant some seeds or plants for the betterment of the birds, bees and other creatures that inhabit the planet with us. I know you’ll be glad you did!
Mercury, which has been in Taurus since the beginning of April, will be turning retrograde on Thursday, April 28th at 1:20 p.m. EDT.
When Mercury is retrograde in Taurus, it bring into consciousness concerns over money and fears about the future that are karmic symbols of problems that were lived through in a past life. Thus, the lessons become about ones insecurities.
It is here that those affected by these energies may find that they are talking to themselves, out loud, in order to be convinced by the sound of their own voice that they are safe.
The greatest strength that comes from past lives is to know how to be a builder in form. To outwardly express ones ideas to others who need to know them is extremely constructive.
Mercury in Taurus does give mental stubbornness, resisting all outside influences. While Mercury is retrograde one of the lessons may be to realize that insight does sometimes come from outside of ourselves; that other people’s ideas and opinions can be stimulating and thought-provoking.
While it is good to be self-assured in ones decisions, it is even better to make those decisions based on as much information and diverse perspectives as possible.
Finally, we have Venus moving into Taurus on Friday, April 29th at 8:38 p.m. EDT. Constant, lasting affections is the gift of this placement. Emotional security and stability will be important now. Being loyal and steadfast while avoiding possessiveness and jealousy will provide exactly that.
During this transit of Venus, the energies will entice us toward a love of comfort, beautiful surroundings, and good food. That will also make the money, making such things possible, equally important.
This is an excellent time for gardening and/or just getting out in Nature to enjoy the pleasure and solace provided by flowers and trees.
Painting, sculpting, and music, especially singing, are all favored during this time. Museums and art galleries provide much pleasure now.
Well, that’s pretty much it for now. I look forward to being your guide to the journey of the planets when we meet again in two weeks!
