Astrological Musings & More

Saturn 6I’ve been coming into contact with a lot of younger people around the ages of 26 to 30 who are having some heavy changes and lessons happen in their lives right now. To each of them, I’ve made the statement that it’s probably the effects of a ‘Saturn return’.

“Huh?” you say. Well, usually so do they. A Saturn return is when the planet Saturn returns to the same sign it was in when you were born. Some would even argue that it would have to be the exact same degree as it was in when you were born. That happens in about 29.5 years, but Saturn just entering the sign it was in when you were born can cause things to happen.

“Why?” you may ask. Saturn is a teacher. It brings lessons that need to be worked through. Those lessons may even be linked to karma from a past life. The lessons may just be things you intended to accomplish in this lifetime. Sometimes those lessons produce harsh changes in our lives or, at least, dramatic ones that change our lives radically. Examples of such changes are marriage, birth of child, death of a parent or other loved one, an illness, sudden job change…you get the idea.

So, sometimes as early as 25 or 26 and other times as late as 30 or later, Saturn returns to that sign it was in on the day we were born and life changes. For me, it was the death of my father, when I was almost 25, followed by finding my spiritual path at almost 26 and a divorce at 29. Lots of lessons on that Saturn return!

Saturn returns once again at around our 58th year and, depending on where we are in our journey, the energies of Saturn’s return may once more rock our worlds. This is nothing to fear, however. I look at it as more of a “wake-up” call. There’s still work to be done, progress to be made.

If you are lucky enough to live a long, healthy life, you may see Saturn return for a third time in your late 80s. Since I haven’t reached that age, I can’t tell you what kind of lessons may be awaiting you, but I look forward to finding out.

Saturn has much to teach us, if we are open to learning. If I’ve peaked your curiosity, you may want to check into where your Saturn was on the day of your birth and when it will return. If it has already, you may find it interesting to think back to what was going on in your life at that time. It could be enlightening!

By the way, Saturn is in Scorpio right now.

Full Moon in CapricornThere’s a Full Moon in Capricorn occurring on Wednesday, July 1st at 10:20 p.m. EDT. It is here that the sensitivity of the Moon is weighted down by the heaviness of this Earth sign. Emotions can become depressed. Pessimism can rise.

The upside to this Sun and Moon combination is that it’s good for accumulating money or property. The energies are ambitious and practical which lends much help to overcoming obstacles placed in ones path.

Work and responsibilities seem to be the focus of this Full Moon. If you are able to see the “up side” to any situation and combine it with practicality and a desire to succeed, then there should be no stopping you!

Mercury in Cancer 2Mercury heads into Cancer on Wednesday, July 8th at 2:52 p.m. EDT creating energies that enhance the sixth sense and intuition of those affected by this placement. You may find yourself ‘knowing’ something but not knowing how you know!

This is one of those times when you may find yourself very sensitive to your surroundings and the people in them.

Depending on how these energies affect you, it can either enhance your memory or create more forgetfulness.

It is any excellent energy for historians and antique dealers due to their appreciation of the past, a Cancer trait.

Be aware that Mercury in Cancer can bring up deep-seated emotional traits that influence how you react to life. It causes you to look at some facts and ignore others resulting in a lack of objective thinking due to biases and prejudices.

This is also a time when you may find that most of your thinking centers around home and family.
