Here we are at the end of another year. Where does the time go so quickly?
There’s a saying going around right now, “I’m definitely not the person I was when this year started.” If you think about it, this is really a no-brainer. Change is a constant in the Universe and, although change for the better is always much more desirable, change for better or worse happens to each and everyone of us.
Without change, we become stagnant and lose interest in life and our purpose for being here. Even in those “worse” changes, we are being challenged to look at things differently, to stretch our minds and our imaginations, to recognize our personal power to overcome that which would try to discourage and stop us. I’ve come to ask myself in those moments, “What am I supposed to be learning here?” rather than my former mantra of, “Why me?!”
Although I recognize that the changes I have faced this year are trivial by comparison to others, it’s still very interesting to look back and see how this year unfolded.
The first three-quarters of the year were fairly peaceful and even prosperous. I admit to being surprised at a turn-of-events in July that I never thought would happen: I returned to being part of Raven-Wolf Nature Sanctuary after an absence of a decade. Although I haven’t been placed back in the position of Coordinator (thank you very much!), I am helping get the Sanctuary back on its feet financially and helping to promote the return to its original purpose – being a sacred site for the benefit of Pagan/Wiccan/magickal/nature-oriented spiritual people and a site that protects animals and plants. This has always been a project dear to my heart so I see this as a positive change.
Several months later, however, my husband lost his job of 17 years with only one more year until retirement. After the initial shock, I asked what was I supposed to be learning from this and discovered that, for me at least, this is a lesson of faith. We have managed to keep all our bills paid on time for over three months with only a little savings, a little financial help from relatives and a lot of ingenuity on our part. We’ve managed to do it without getting public assistance, although that thought crossed our minds several times. Needless, to say, I am amazed at the “magick” of it all!
I recognize that we are in very unique times vibrationally. Two years ago, on the Winter Solstice, we traveled to the center of our galaxy. That has created a speeding up of time and, to me, some other vibrational changes that have created fertile ground for leaps and bounds in our spiritual growth and awareness. Things on planet Earth are not the same as they were in my youth, some sixty years ago. Heck, they’re not even the same as they were twenty or ten years ago. I’m not talking politics or economy here, although these things, like others, have been affected by these vibrational changes.
We have finally entered the Age of Aquarius and with that comes a different vibration than the one that pervaded our existence with the Age of Pisces. It’s an energy that is more unique, more eccentric, even more sudden in its occurrences. In the blink of an eye, things change now. We no longer can take the extended amounts of time that we used to for decision-making or even taking action. The window of opportunity could be missed.
Bear with me as I try to explain. You see, Aquarius, is an air sign. What’s even more interesting is that it’s the sign that has rulership over things like electricity, computers, all the new technology. “So what?” you may ask. Well, remember me mentioning the quickness of everything? Take a look at how quickly a light comes on when you flip the switch or turn on your computer and start surfing the Web. We’re talking instants here. Now apply that to your life. That’s the energy at-large now. Not the placid, easy flow of water that accompanied the Piscean Age.
Is it any wonder things are happening suddenly both to us personally, but also nationally and globally? Is it any wonder people speak so quickly now that it’s sometimes hard to understand them? Then there’s the fact that, for many, life has become a race, literally, from the beginning of the day to the end. Can you see why?
Some of you may be wondering if we have any choice in all this. There are always choices. Choices here depend on daily awareness of ourselves. If you choose to live by default, giving no thought at all to your choices and just being swept along by the energies and circumstances, then life will continue to be hectic and less than satisfying. However, if you choose a course of living that includes daily awareness of your right to choose and your power in doing so, life can change dramatically – and quickly.
One of the characteristics offered to us by these Aquarian energies is to look at things from a different perspective. Instead of allowing ourselves to continue in old habit patterns, we choose to look at things from a fresh, original perspective, as if seeing them for the first time. Kind of like when we were children and experiencing something for the first time. This approach gives us a clarity that we have allowed to become lost as we have grown older. It also allows our imaginations to engage and that part of us which is creative takes a deep breath encouraging us to try something new and original. All of a sudden, life becomes brighter.
Another tool we have is breath. When you take the time to consciously take a breath, you slow down the fast pace of your life, even if just for a moment, which allows you to clear your mind and think. Couple this with taking some time to actually ground yourself and, all of a sudden, you are no longer being swept along on the tides of “hurry, hurry, rush, rush”. You learn to let go and let life flow realizing that things will still get down and you will cease to expend as much energy, thus feeling less tired.
This past year, 2014, has been a year of learning opportunities as it should have been. 2014 is a “7” in numerology, whose keywords are knowledge and wisdom. It has been a year that asked us to seek understanding and to have faith in ourselves and others. This energy is now drawing to a close as does the year that brought it.
The New Year – 2015 – now offers the opportunity to learn the correct use of power and possessions through the vibration of the number “8“. The keyword is manifesting. As the energy of this new year approaches, consider what you would like to manifest in your life with the correct use of this energy. The choices are unlimited and they are yours to make and yours to manifest. BTW, January 1st of this new year is a “1”. That means it’s yours to do with as you see fit. One is the beginning and it always begins with you. So while none of us are the same person we were at the beginning of this year, change continues but now with the knowledge and wisdom that it is ours to do with as we choose.
