I know the upcoming Friday the 13th, combined with a Full Moon, will have some of us freaking out. “OMG! Friday the 13th and a Full Moon. I’ll just go hide until it’s over!” Seriously, there are those who will believe that their day is going to be filled with bad luck. The truth is, that there is no mention of this superstition before the 19th century. Even then, the first recorded reference comes from a biography of Gioachino Rossini by Henry Sutherland Edwards who relates how remarkable it was that Rossini died on November 13th, a Friday, since Rossini considered both Fridays and the number 13 to be unlucky.
I have almost always found Friday the 13th to be a fortunate day. Perhaps it comes from my usage of numerology. I recognize that “13” is really a “4” and the keyword to four is “work”. Even more than that, to me, it represents stability. Just like the four legs on a table that make it stable, four offers the opportunity, through work, to stabilize ones life, to put it in order.
Going even beyond that, there’s the fact that if you truly want to know the vibration of any particular Friday the 13th, you must add to it the month and year. This Friday the 13th will actually be an “8” (6+13+2014=2033=35=8). “Eight” is about money and manifesting. That makes it the perfect time to take advantage of any opportunities that may come your way as this is an excellent time for manifesting material aspects of your life – and you have the energies of a Full Moon to help you! Wow! How lucky is that?
So, here comes that Full Moon in Sagittarius on Friday, June 13th at 0:11 a.m. EDT. The energies of a Moon in Sagittarius are expansive and optimistic. It’s time to “dream the impossible dream” and bring it into manifestation.
The only warnings are to avoid being careless and not to overestimate your own talents as well as those of others. Having said that, tap into the high spiritual energies of this placement and bathe yourself in the jovial energies of Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter.
It could be a very interesting and adventurous Full Moon that brings opportunity and expansion in ways you can’t even imagine!
Retrograde Mercury enters Gemini, one of its home signs, on Tuesday, June 17th at 6:05 a.m. EDT.
Mercury in Gemini energies are logical, impersonal, versatile and unbiased. It creates an atmosphere where it is easy to communicate, with both accuracy and speed, but the retrograde motion may provide lessons for those affected by its energies in these very things.
There’s a susceptibility to ones surroundings that, with that retrograde motion, may be presenting lessons in tuning out the busyness of the surrounding environment in order to prevent fatigue, confusion and irritability.
Mercury in Gemini is a great time for writing and studying. It causes one to be curious and mentally creative. It can cause you to pursue numerous lines of inquiry.
A very interesting time indeed.
As the year quickly moves along, the Sun enters Cancer on Saturday, June 21st at 6:51 a.m. EDT. This can create the illusion of people being hard and insensitive on the outside (like a crab), when they are really sensitive and too easily hurt.
There can be moodiness, “crabbiness”, even that feeling of a “wet blanket” during this transit. All this may be hidden under a layer of humor, but it’s still there. Learning to conquer ones fears is the opportunity of this transit.
There is a fertile imagination and good intuition, if one can move passed the harping voice in ones head that keeps talking of all the things that might lurk “out there.”
Don’t get me wrong. Cancer has good traits as well. They are nurturing, love home and family, respect the past, are good at keeping secrets and can be very generous and giving.
Focus on the good, ignore the voice of doom in your head and let your imagination take you to impossibly beautiful places while the Sun is in Cancer!
To those celebrating a birthday ~
Lastly comes Venus which will move into Gemini on Monday, June 23rd, at 8:34 a.m. EDT. This is a combination of Venus being emotional and earthy with Gemini, which is airy and rational. Not the best of combinations.
During this transit, if you feel its effects, you may not want to be touched or fondled. Your approach to love may take an intellectual stance. Your expression of devotion may be of spirit or mind rather than of body.
What it may also provide is a desire to travel in pursuit of pleasure and social activities. This is also a great time for literary pursuits.
Let me bring this to a close with a thought concerning the Law of Attraction and Friday the 13th: “What you believe, you achieve.” So, if you believe trouble awaits you on that day, you may find it or it find you. I prefer to believe it’s going to be one of the luckiest days of my life!
