Astrological Musings & More

Who would have ever dreamed that when I “tweeted” last Friday about the combination of the Sun in Cancer with the Moon in Scorpio giving the possibility of “vindictive” energies, that a storm would roll through Ohio – and elsewhere – leaving 1.4 million people without power for more than 5 days?  NOT ME!!! Oh, my stars!

With no back-up generator and the inability to use an iPhone or similar device to access the worldwide web (we live in the hills), I’ve been listening to the “sounds of silence”, while putting all my primitive camping experience to work.

The good news was that we still had running water, a gas stove for cooking, and ways to obtain ice to keep food cold as we quickly used the most perishable food first.  The other blessing was two battery operated fans to move the 90+ degree air around.

Life is interesting.  Lessons come, using the available tools.  And what was this lesson, you might ask?  For us, it was about preparedness.  The answer?  Buy a generator! (and so we have one on the way)

When the internet was merely an entertaining distraction, being offline for 5 days was no big deal.  Now, with a web site, a newsletter,  and tweeting astrological information on a daily basis, a generator becomes a necessity for more than just keeping food fresh and cold.  I think we got the message…loud and clear!

So…..I’m back.  Even though the Full Moon has passed, I’m giving you all the information so you can see if you experienced any of the energies from the configurations.  Then read on for the astrological energies yet to come.

So, first Mars went into Libra on Tuesday, July 3rd, at 8:32 a.m. EDT.  Although this does bring a great deal of fairness, it sometimes leaves people torn between the choice of two actions.  These actions may have to do with socializing or companionship.  Romantic relationships begun now may be short-lived.

If you’ve been looking for employment, Mars in Libra is telling you to be discriminating in order to avoid disappointment.

Whatever it is that requires action in your life right now, Mars is your planet and Libra is telling you to seek balance.

The Full Moon in Capricorn occurred on Tuesday, July 3rd, at 2:52 p.m. EDT.  This is a placement of opposition as the Moon rules the sign of Cancer, which is opposite Capricorn on the zodiac wheel.

For this reason, there can be a loss of sensitivity and sentiment for some who are affected by these energies, especially females.

Moon in Capricorn can also bring to the surface any problems you have with the relationship with your mother.  Alive or dead, if you and mom didn’t get along, you may find yourself thinking about it this Full Moon.  Perhaps it’s time to resolve the issues, even if it’s just within yourself.

The good news about this placement is that it does give the ability to make quick decisions.  Problems are looked at and resolved in what seems like a split second.

I hope you had a wonderful Full Moon!

Uranus, which has been in Aries since March of 2011, will turn retrograde again on Friday, July 13th, at 5:49 a.m. EDT.

While Uranus in Aries is moving forward – direct – we are being given the opportunity to blaze new trails; to be courageous, daring, resourceful; and to chose to freely act in our own way.

While it appears to be moving backward – retrograde – in the sky, the energies are offering us the opportunity to free ourselves of the barriers that keep us from being individualistic, unique, and independent.  By looking for excitement in life, and doing so spontaneously, we allow ourselves to break with tradition – even if it’s self-imposed tradition.

When Uranus turns direct again, and we are once more asked to blaze new trails, it is important to do so with a fresh approach.  It’s difficult to do or find anything new in life if you’re still living by rote.

Stay awesome, my friends!

Mercury in Leo will turn retrograde on Saturday, July 14th, at 10:16 a.m. EDT.  There will, of course, be the usual cautions with a retrograde Mercury: clarity of communication to avoid misunderstandings, possible delays and frustrations concerning all forms of communication and travel, and alertness in any form of travel to avoid accident or injury.

There is, however, more to Mercury in Leo.  Those affected by its energies can acquire a bad case of “putting the cart before the horse.”  This indicative of control issues, insecurity, and/or lack of faith.  If you find yourself trying to do this, stop, take a breath and remember that the Universe will show you the way, if you let it.

Avoid holding things inside.  This can ultimately cause you to not ask for what you need.  Be sure it’s not your pride stopping you from reaching out to others.

Mercury in Leo can also cause you to put pressure on yourself to achieve.  Stress will only cause frustration and possible mistakes.  Allow the energies of Mercury in Leo to show you the best way to shine with continuity of planning and purpose. All things in their own time!

Well, that’s it for this time.  Wherever you are, I hope you are cool and safe.  Send positive thoughts for those who aren’t quite as fortunate…I know I am.

Love & Blessed Be
