As another year draws to a close, my mind naturally is drawn to the possibilities another new year may bring. After you’ve experienced as many as I have, you begin to realize the possibilities really are infinite and nothing can be ruled out…even those things we can’t even begin to imagine.
There’s a great deal of discussion and speculation about what this next year may hold for us, not only as individuals, but as a planet – especially when we arrive, exactly one year from now at December 21, 2012.
The question in my mind right now is, if we will be arriving at the center of our Milky Way galaxy where a black hole exists, will we finally have made it to the Age of Aquarius? Which also brings up the question, will this black hole, which is very much like the Void or Abyss where the answers to all questions exist, cause the change in consciousness that many are speculating will occur for humanity? The two questions, although appearing to be different from one another, really are similar in nature – especially if you look at the similarity in time spans that are invoked.
The Mayan calendar, the procession of the Equinoxes, and the journey to the center of our galaxy all center around a time period of about 26,000 years. Specifically, the Mayan long-count calendar has lasted about 25,625 years while our journey through all 12 of the zodiacal Ages takes about 25,800 years and our journey through our galaxy back to its center takes about 26,000 years. Since I don’t believe in coincidences, there has to be a connection to these three events. So did the Mayans know that we would be approaching the center of the galaxy and, with or without the influence of the black hole there, did they recognize that this would result in a change in consciousness for many upon Planet Earth that would herald the New Age…the Age of Aquarius? We will probably never truly know for sure, but you have to admit that if you put the pieces together in this manner, it does make some sense.
So, for me, this next year will be one of observation. It will be interesting to see what the energies of all these events will manifest in our collective reality. It will also be interesting to see how individuals respond to them on a personal basis as the energies cause changes in our personal realities.
As an astrologer, I believe that, although we will see things happening continually -albeit subtly – for the next year, the impact of all this will really make itself known around the time the Sun enters the sign of Scorpio. Scorpio being the sign that offers the opportunity for death and rebirth, the energies will have to be intensifying for individual, as well as collective or group, change on a grand scale. Sagittarius will then offer us a chance to expand our horizons – think and live outside the box, if you will. This culminates in the rebirth of the Sun in the sign of Capricorn which, ruled by Saturn, is about time, maturity and mastery.
Yes, this next year is filled with infinite possibilities. What an adventure it could be for all of us!
For now, we have a New Moon happening in the sign of Capricorn on Saturday, December 24th at 1:06 p.m. EST.
With the Sun and the Moon both in Capricorn, an opportunity to move forward toward our personals goals is being doubly offered. Any New Moon is about action, new beginnings, but in Capricorn the action is one step at a time. Being an Earth sign, Capricorn wants steady footing, but is willing, like the mountain goat, to scale any heights.
Although there is a quality to Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn, that can make it seem like a task master or stern teacher, the truth is that the energies of this sign are reflecting the Saturnine nature of maturity and mastery and requiring us to take responsibility and combine it with discipline to acquire a great sense of personal fulfillment, which thus leads to self-confidence.
It is true that Moon in Capricorn can cause pessimism and negativity. We have a choice. We always do. You can choose to allow the weight of Saturn’s metal – lead – to weigh you down, making your energies sluggish, or you can choose to use the steadfastness of this energy to help you put one foot in front of the other as you carefully plot your path towards your goal. It’s all about taking action and which action you take is up to you.
Jupiter’s in Taurus and Taurus is about money and money matters. Taurus doesn’t like to take risks especially where material things are concerned. Being an Earth sign, the sign is about being on solid ground.
This can cause a problem for the energetic nature of Jupiter which wants to be expansive. It’s not that Taurus doesn’t want that. It just wants it in a slow, methodical way. So while the energies of Jupiter will bring increase, opportunity and abundance, the energies of Taurus will cause these things to happen with great caution thus hampering Jupiter’s energies of enthusiasm and spontaneity.
When the combination of these two is handled constructively, there is a great reverence for nature and practical outward expressions of inner values. There is also a wonderful resourcefulness and ability to uplift others.
This is a wonderful time for meditation for these energies allow the mind to remain focused for longer periods.
The seriousness of the mind can make some people appear older than their years. However, the other side of this coin is that, for some, they may find themselves being weighed down to the point of depression by that very same seriousness. It can also cause suspicion in some.
The memory is also very good now. The ultimate benefit is to remember the good times that bring a smile to ones face. After all, Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, can be a little too serious and could use some brightening up.
If we choose to use the good attributes of this positioning of Mercury, it can be quite beneficial as we take those new steps towards our goals in the New Year.
As I draw this last Musings of the year to a close, I want to wish all of you a very happy and prosperous New Year!
