Have you decked your halls yet? Are you looking forward to whatever holiday you celebrate at this time of the year? Joy is one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves and it costs absolutely nothing! I was recently reminded that how we emotionally live each of our days is very much a choice – and that choice lies solely with us. It’s not dependent on who we’re with or what we’re doing. It’s not even dependent on what position or phase the stars and planets are in. It’s only dependent on how we choose to greet each day and journey through it. Amazing, huh? Some of you probably didn’t know you had such power or ability. Well, you do!!!
In this season filled with so many celebrations – Yule, Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa – this truly is a time of joy! Many, however, have found it to be a time of stress and even depression. The cure? Well, my best suggestion is, no matter whether you’re shopping for gifts, wrapping them, or decorating for your holiday, find something to be grateful for and you may find a smile appearing on your face. That’s a gift each one of us can give ourselves 365 days a year!
Uranus, which has been retrograde in Aries since the beginning of July, will now turn direct on Saturday, December 10th, at 2:05 a.m. EST.
Did you take that retrograde energy and learn about your own uniqueness, your individuality? Did you use spontaneity as a tool to break through any barriers of “tradition” that have kept you bound and held you back? Well, now it’s time to move forward into the world outside of yourself and blaze new trails. This is a time of courage, daring, initiative and resourcefulness for each of us.
The time has come to allow the spirit of adventure to be strong in us. It is also time to recognize that uniqueness and individuality that we each have and to realize that we want and need the freedom to be who we really are. This is the gift of Uranus in Aries and what a wonderful gift it is!
There’s a Full Moon occurring in Gemini on Saturday, December 10th at 9:36 a.m. EST. For those with their Moon in Gemini or for those who choose to tap into these energies, you will find your imagination stimulated making it an excellent time for highly creative work. It’s also a great time for anything educational with the mind being kept active and focused on the subject at hand. For those who enjoy writing, this energy is also conducive to that endeavor as well.
You may find yourself wanting to talk incessantly and you should be aware that Gemini’s trait of stimulating the imagination can also lead to telling “tales” and forgetting the truth.
The combination of the Sun in Sagittarius and the Full Moon in Gemini can cause a liability of being hasty in speech or overactive. It also inclines to nervousness. The upside is that it increase the interest in education and gives journalistic ability. Ones judgment and memory is also good at this time with this combination.
Combined with Uranus turning direct, this is an excellent time for moving forward in almost any area of your life!
Mercury will also be turning direct, in its current sign of Sagittarius, on Tuesday, December 13th at 8:43 p.m. EST. While Mercury’s retrogrades of shorter duration than Uranus, it still gives us an opportunity to learn about ourselves and our responses to life outside of ourselves.
With Mercury in Sagittarius, now moving forward, we have an opportunity to see how we respond to attitudes rather than facts when dealing with other people. Although Jupiter’s influence here (the ruler of Sagittarius) tends to improve one’s judgment, and in many cases paying attention to your intuition can prove you right, don’t lose sight of the truth of factual information. Sometimes our own attitudes can color our hunches and lead us astray.
With Mercury in Sagittarius, we are faced with a time of honesty, of being forthright and direct. It’s very much a time to tell the truth – even if your voice shakes.
The mind moves swiftly now and it may be hard to concentrate. You may find it handy to pause, take a breath and then speak. This position of Mercury is offering us the opportunity to speak our personal truths from a place of honor. We should take advantage of it!
Venus, that wonderful planet of love, now moves into Aquarius at 1:26 p.m. EST on Tuesday, December 20th.
With this transit of Venus, love becomes love of humanity and personal freedom in love relationships. This is an energy that wants “no strings” attached to its expression of love.
This is a time when romantic attractions are not stable and lasting but rather sudden and casual. Intellectual stimulation will be as important now as other areas of a relationship. (After all, Aquarius is an air sign.) Social freedom will be important right now, so any expression of jealousy or possessiveness will cause one to shy away from the partner. You may also find yourself attracted, either socially or romantically, to eccentric and/or ingenious people right now because they provide a sense of intrigue and adventure. A type of wind-in-your-hair feeling that Aquarius loves. So be adventurous and see where these energies lead you!!!
Whether you call it the Winter Solstice or Yule, the Sun will be moving into the sign of Capricorn on Thursday, December 23rd, at 0:30 a.m. EST. This is known for being the shortest day of the year and the rebirth of the Sun, as the days now begin to grow longer.
For those born under this sign, and those who find themselves influenced by it, you may find a faint aura of melancholy and seriousness surrounding you now as the planet Saturn, which rules Capricorn, becomes influential.
Capricorn energy is very practical. It is an Earth sign after all. The energy is also reliable and persistent, but it can also be cold, rigid and pessimistic.
Saturn brings us the first law of manifestation, which is limitation. The key to dealing with Saturn’s energies is discipline. It’s really not a dirty word, folks. Saturn teaches us about focusing and concentrating energy and about endurance and perseverance. All of these things are key to manifesting what you want in your life.
It’s also interesting that, as we approach the New Year, we see a wizen old man representing the old year. Father Time, we call him. Saturn teaches us about time and its importance in our lives. So as you watch the ball drop at New Year’s – or however you celebrate that night/day – when you think of Father Time, remember it’s only Saturn (the ruler of Capricorn) reminding us that time is important.
To all my friends and family, born under this sign –
The Ursids meteor showers are normally meek, but NASA says it could surprise sky watchers with a powerful outburst when the Earth passes through a dust stream from the periodic comet Tuttle. This light show will provide 10-15 meteors per hour streaking through the night sky. If you have a chance, go out and see gift the Universe has to share!
